It seems quite frequently these days we are heading out to dinner. Just easier to get things done when someone else cooks and cleans.Tonight, was a little different. Heather was very excited about a promised trip to the pool this afternoon. However, after a doctor visit yesterday afternoon which confirmed Heather's self diagnosed ear infection ("My ear hurts on the inside"), Bill felt it would be best to skip a pool trip until the ear was feeling better. As a consolation prize, Bill suggested Pho for dinner (Vietnamese Soup). Auntie Jenn turned me on to Pho and, in turn, was also able to get Heather into it too. Needless to say, Heather was pretty excited about the dinner option. Surprisingly, Kailey was also interested.
Or, rather, what we really may have determined is that Kailey is interested in chop sticks (or Pork Chops, as Heather kept saying). Using a spoon, Kailey went to town on a bowl of rice with beef broth, but once that lost its appeal, she was still interested in eating, but this time with chop sticks. Food on spoon - no. Food on chop sticks - yes!

Kailey also had fun playing with her water glass, which was given to her in a real glass and no top (i.e. no child cup and just asking to be spilled). As I kept a vigilant eye (and occasional hand) on Kailey's glass, she called out a few words to me which she has heard many time, "Don't touch!". To her credit, she was quite successful with the glass, water, ice and straw.... successful meaning that she didn't need all new clothes by the time we finished dinner.
Hopefully, Heather's ear will be feeling much better later this week and we can take her to the pool to play.

There's nothing like warm soup to help chase an ear infection away! Hope Miss Heather feels better soon.
