About a year ago, my friend Shannon gave Kailey and Heather each a bear for Christmas. They are really soft little bears made by Brookstone. They are made from the Nap material used to make the beds and pillows they sell. Both girls liked the bears, but Kailey LOVED her bear.
Nightly, Kailey gets into bed, has some books read, grabs bear and falls asleep. Some mornings, Bear (which is now his official name) will come out of the crib with Kailey and has some journeys around the house. When Kailey goes down for a nap or back to bed that night, Bear is the first thing she looks for. If he's not around, she makes it known that Bear needs his sleep too and should be returned. Due to his elevated status, he usually isn't permitted to leave the house.
As a white bear, Bear is frequently dirty. Thankfully, the material is made to be washed and in order to keep Kailey happy, we bought a second bear to match the first. So, now Bear can be rotated with Spare Bear when either needs a bath. This has created a few problems. For example, occasionally, Bear and Spare Bear need a bath at the same time. During these times, both bears can been seen in the same place at the same time! When Kailey figures this out, both bears are taken to bed with a great big smile on Kailey's face. (Spare Bear eventually finds his way back to his hidden cave in our bedroom closet during the night). Other times, Spare Bear is found in his cave JUST after leaving Bear in bed. This usually prompts Kailey to run back to her room, where - surprise, surprise! - Bear is still sleeping!
Just to be on the safe side, we now have a third bear who sits, still wrapped and pristine, on the shelf with Spare Bear.

Cute! Gabe's Sassy Cat took a bath last week, and boy did she need it! We also have a spare blankie for just in case....
Well, Kailey may not remember me now, but at least she'll always have my bear :).
