The Pacific Ocean and Some Girl Time

On Wednesday, Shannon had a bridal shower/relaxation time. We all went for an afternoon at the spa. BUT, before I took off without the kids and Bill, we spent our morning exploring the beach.
With the time change, the kids were up pretty early. So, we grabbed breakfast at the hotel and then turned on the TomTom to find the closest beach; again, totally love TomTom - no thought required! Turns out the closest was Main Beach/Lugana Beach. This was where the girls got their first look at the Pacific Ocean. Don't think they really got it, but they did notice the waves and sand. Heather mentioned the Occoquan River and asked if the ocean was like that, so she understood some of it.

After a morning of walking around the Lugana Beach area and checking out the little shops (including a candy shop that made Kailey pretty happy!), we decided to find lunch. I didn't want to be penned up in a restaurant on such a nice day, so I convinced Bill that we should walk to Whole Foods and get sandwiches and walk back to the beach. Here's a picture of us enjoying our snacks on the boardwalk.

After lunch, we walked our way along the ocean towards our car so we could find our way to the spa where Bill would drop me off for the afternoon. Bill got to entertain our kids while I sat with some of Shannon's friends and got a pedicure. We followed up with a light snack of fruit and all rushed off to get ready for a wonderful dinner out. Bill returned to pick me up, drove us back to the hotel where I got ready and drove back to Shannon's to get ready for the limo to take all 8 of us to dinner in Huntington Beach.

Bill had dinner with Heather and Kailey at the hotel and played in the pool before bedtime. I enjoyed a dinner with Shannon and we had fun driving around in the limo. But, by midnight, it was important for me to get back and rest because the Lamonts were finally heading to Disneyland in the morning!
