Lugano

A part of my trip to Switzerland involved a free hotel stay in Lugano, where I worked for 2 days. From my hotel room, this is what I could see:The picture really doesn't do it any justice, as this was probably one of the most beautiful places I have been. The middle left of the picture also shows there is a lake here too. Lake Lugano reminded me something of the Finger Lakes in NY State, but bigger and all connecting into on big lake in the middle of many mountains. The mountains all around were amazing and the fact that people can wake up to this every morning is more than can be described. The Alps could also be seen in the distance.

Lugano, Switzerland is located near the Alps and this is what the little jet flies over when you head into Lugano:Every now and then you can look down and see little villages nestled between the mountains. Pretty amazing.

The first afternoon I was with Shannon, she took me to downtown Lugano. We had an early dinner and walked around a city park in full bloom along Lake Lugano. The nearby mountains in this picture have hiking trails and Shannon has climbed up before to look down on Lugano. I'm sure the view is amazing and if I get back there, I would like to take a hike some afternoon. To continue the amazing sights, this is the view from the trail Shannon takes as she walks to work every morning. Just can't imagine it:
Finally, the hotel where I stayed also is known for their food. The last night in Lugano, we sat with some of Shannon's friends, had wine, pizza and pasta as we watched the sunset.
Not a bad place to spend a year teaching, huh??
