A Few Good Skills

Time to brag:
Bill was picking up Heather at school this week. Apparently during class, the kids had heard The Three Billy Goats Gruff.

(As a side note, yes, this is a childhood story. However, depending on the version you find, the story can lead in a number of different directions from "... and the troll ran away and the goats lived happily ever after", all the way to "... and the biggest billy goat Gruff poked out the troll's eyes and crushed his bones to little bits". And parents these days are worried about video games, songs and music??!)

I assume the kids were then each asked to retell the story. The teacher wrote down what each child said, attached a picture of the troll. This is Heather's retelling:

"Then they crossed the bridge to get to the grass. The troll came up and ate the little goat all up. Then this one came across. He ate that one up. The big one punched him out. Then yum, yum, yum, yum they ate the grass."

Not bad considering, according to her retelling at least, the version they read in class was different than the one we have read at home.

As for Kailey:
Sometimes after bath, I'll put Kailey's hooded towel on her, wrap her up, and lift her up to look at herself all bundled up in front the mirror.

Kailey told me tonight 'mirror', pointed to her head, said, 'head' and picked up her towel.

This was after she peed in the potty, as she has been doing any time she can get her diaper off! :)

Some day when Kailey has become a well-known artist you will be sorry you destroyed one of her first masterpieces.
