Ah, yes. She looks so peaceful, doesn't she?
I rushed home from work today so I could get Heather and Kailey home in time to take a nap. Especially after being up late last night. I also needed to bake an apple pie for Thanksgiving tomorrow. So, instead of running to the store for apples, we came home. Of course Murphy's Law was working and by 4:00 neither child had slept, Bill was home from work (after picking up apples for me), a pie still hadn't been made and I still wanted to get to the gym. (We have a one week free trial membership to Gold's Gym and I want to take advantage of it before we have to pay to go!). We gave up trying to get them to take a nap and moved on to dinner plans.
By 5:00, Heather had fallen asleep under the coffee table in the basement, Kailey asked me to hold her and she crawled up and fell asleep on my shoulder. Very adorable, especially since I don't remember Kailey falling asleep in my arms since she was probably 7 months old. She is non-stop and unless she's in the car or in her bed, she's up and moving.
After some discussion, Bill and I decided to ask our neighbor/babysitter to watch the girls. We put Heather in bed at 5:30 and tried to put Kailey in bed. She woke up and cried. (Then I remembered why Kailey hadn't fallen asleep in my arms since she was 7 months old... she doesn't transition from arms to bed -- ever.). Bill and I had dinner, got Kailey back up, played, put Kailey back in bed. She cried again. We got our babysitter and went to the gym for an hour. We returned home and Kailey was still crying! Got Kailey back out of bed and she was happy as a clam to be walking around and playing.
By 8:30, Heather woke up from her 'nap' and was ready for food and activity. By 9:30, and many "Aren't you tired?" questions, Bill and I pulled out another beer for some energy :) and the girls and I made our apple pie for Thanksgiving. Both were decent helpers and had a good time eating apple peels and extra apples.
Bath time started at 10:00 and in the kids were back in bed at 10:45. Pie came out of the oven at 11:00pm. We're on the road by 9:00am tomorrow.
We're going to bed!
