Trip to the Beach

After a day a Disney, we needed to do some relaxation. We made our way down to the US Open for Surfing; a big deal at Huntington Beach. Bill was very excited to finally see the place he had read about in surfing magazines. We took at walk out to the pier to watch some of the waves and the surfers. (We also managed to see a few dolphin fins too, but no pictures)

We went in the water for a little while too, but even growing up on Lake Ontario, the Pacific Ocean was a little too cold for me. So, we played in the sand, watched the surfers and Bill went to check out the tent villages of tee shirt sales and surf board stuff.

Before long, we had to get back to our hotel to clean up for Shannon and Ellis' rehearsal wedding. We met Shannon at the church where we stopped to take a picture.
This is the view you can see from inside the church - all the blue sky, water and sailboats. I can't imagine the sermons get boring enough to just stare out the window at the Pacific Ocean, but it's not a bad alternative!
After the wedding walk through, we headed off to dinner with the out of town guests. It was a beautiful restaurant in Dana Point and Heather and Kailey enjoyed themselves.Heather showing off her pretty ladybug pants outfit. We had a great time and the kids did very well considering the long day they had at the beach and then sitting at dinner until 11:00pm! We were all tired. :)

As a side note: Bill and I figured it would be best to each pick a kid to sleep with so they wouldn't kick each other and keep waking up. I ended up with Kailey and Bill had Heather. From comparing notes, it doesn't sound like either child was an ideal bedmate. Heather kicked, threw elbows and took up more than her share. Kailey liked to sleep close, sleep sideways and kick too.
